Dalrymple has written the cover story for the January edition of The American Conservative, a piece on the continuing relevance of Dickens. Subscription required. I’m pleasantly surprised, as usually publications of this type focus more on contemporary political topics and personalities, rather than the social and literary criticism of writers like Dalrymple. We purchased a subscription specifically to read this piece, but unfortunately two weeks is required for activation of the online component of the subscription. So I can’t say any more about the piece than I already have.
